Bond Safe 680 was invented by JM Products Inc. in order to bond pool water in accordance with
the National Electrical Code (NEC) 680.26(C) which states "Pool water shall have an electrical connection to one or more
of the bonded parts described in 680.26(B). Where none of the bonded parts is in direct connection with the pool water, the
pool water shall be in direct contact with an approved corrosion-resistant conductive surface that exposes not less than 5800
mm2 (9 in.2) of surface area to the pool water at all times. The conductive surface shall be located where it is not exposed
to physical damage or dislodgement during usual pool activities, and it shall be bonded in accordance with 680.26(B)."
This is the NEC 2008 code which will eventually be adopted by almost every
state. Bond Safe 680 adheres to this code by bonding the pool water.
As the code reads, the product must be placed somewhere out of harms way and made of non-corrosive material. Because
Bond Safe 680 is made of stainless steel and placed on the side wall of the skimmer, below the skimmer basket it is both non-corrosive
and out of the way. There
are two Bond Safe 680 models for both above ground (Model # BS680AG) and inground (Model # BS680IG) pools. JM Products Inc. would also like to stress the ease
of installation with this product. The instructions for both above ground and inground pools contain only 5 easy to
follow steps. The product can be installed in a matter of minutes. Bond Safe 680 is packaged with all the hardware
necessary to mount the plate. Upon mounting, the electrician will only need to attach the bonding wire for the pool
to be bonded. JM Products Inc. would
also like to point out that this product is patent pending and Underwriters Laboratories (UL) listed. The UL approval
process is one of the more rigorous programs for new products to the market. UL will perform a litany of tests to verify
that the product adheres to the NEC 2008 electrical code and is safe for use thus proving it is a product that will stand
the test of time and will safely bond the pool water.
